i watched “samantha who?” over the weekend and … i don’t think i’ll watch it again. but this exchange really cracked me up -
Samantha: Is it our song?
Todd: No. We, we didn’t have a song. Every time I suggested one, you laughed at me and asked me if I was on my period.

i was teasing melissa a few weeks ago about how she has the sense of humor of a teenage boy, but i guess we all do sometimes. otherwise, i wouldn’t find the song my dick so funny. nsfw unless you have headphones
and whoever put this video together is pretty funny too.

Directv’s online programming guide has the best description EVER for Hurlyburly-
Three men (Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Chazz Palminteri) share a house in Hollywood, where they indulge in misogyny and self-absorbed discussions.
I LOLed on my couch.

i finally washed the kitchen floor this afternoon after like a month of saying i needed to do it and what happens? i let the rock outside a few hours later and he goes and digs in the mud for the first time in forever. kitchen floor – 0, the rock – 1.

angela’s paraphrased quote from the host of a british quiz show made me snort laugh this morning -
If you have some problem in your life and use religion to deal with it, that’s fine. I use Google. Whatever you need.
i think i forgot to update you all on the fact that my line drop was actually done on tuesday. i mean they did get there 4.5 hours later than they said they would, but it’s done! i can now record two shows at once while watching a previously recorded show. and just in time as season 2 of rock of love started this week!

this morning i got a bill from dreamhost that said i owed them a bunch of money that i had to pay by 1-9-09 or my website would be shut down. and i wondered who’d screwed up some billing function. i went to the status page to see if there was anything up and sure enough someone ran a billing job with the wrong date. and they posted his picture! i’m glad UT doesn’t do that when we screw up. not that i ever do, of course

i’ve been listening to ships about 10 times a day. go to tyler ramsey’s myspace to listen to it. i’ve also been trying to figure out the words. any ideas?

It’s so sad to see you clinging on desperately to one thing, when your dream is so entangled in another person’s dream. They might tie you up forever. They might keep you down and tethered. When you finally remember yourself it may be too late.
When the wind died down you found yourself out drifting in a ship whose sails weren’t big enough to carry you and all the extra weight. Well, you should have jumped some time ago and made your way back to the shore and built a ship seaworthy from the trees along the beach.
Well, I hope that there is wind enough to take you where you need to go and time enough for you to plant your banners on the shore. ‘Cause by now I’ve seen too many of the of the ??? upon the sea whose sails are clinging desperately to ships that once were worthy.

jessie with her post about rocking out with sam and hannah.
a conversation yesterday about randy newman reminded me of the mad tv sketch about him. it’s very funny. you should immediately listen to this actual randy newman song afterwards to get the full effect.

so they sent out someone from a different company to fix my installation issues. he took a look at my setup and told me that the tech from mastec DIDN’T DO A CUSTOM WALL DROP! the reason i only have one line is because that’s the one that was already installed when the house was built. he just pretended to do the wall drop, but really only hooked into the existing line. i am so mad. so now that dude lied to me about the directv refunding the $52.50 for the wall drop and he lied about DOING the wall drop. AND, i went to get my drill out of the garage the day after that guy was there and it was gone. at the time i just figured someone must have stolen it while i was working in the yard in the last few weeks, but now i’m pretty suspicious that jerk took it with him!

Observation
If I don’t drive around the park, I’m pretty sure to make my mark.
If I’m in bed each night by ten, I may get back my looks again.
If I abstain from fun and such, I’ll probably amount to much;
But I shall stay the way I am, Because I do not give a damn.
Dorothy Parker
