greg and adale always have the best stories, but this one (with pictures!) is especially funny.

this morning, some idiot tow truck driver flipped me off! i pulled out onto ben white into the center lane in my little honda civic with my little engine and he pulled out behind me in his TOW TRUCK – in the same lane though the other two were open. i think he was trying to prove some kind of point since he’d been riding on my ass after we’d gone through the four way stop (about 150 feet from the stop sign at ben white). he then proceeded to speed up so it looked like he was going to hit me and then jerked the wheel and went into the left lane at the last second and sped by me angrily making hand gestures. who doesn’t understand that a honda civic cannot accelerate at the same speed as an extremely large tow truck? of course, when we got to the light 2-3 seconds later, i was one car behind him. sigh.

i’ve only been up for two hours.
so far i’ve managed to –

• oversleep by almost 2 hours
• cut my finger and not notice until i looked down and saw i was bleeding
• break my headphones
• get a message from my dentist telling me that i need $150 impressions done before my super expensive dental implant surgery
• spill coffee on my pants

after this, i called the surgeon’s office to ask them why i wasn’t told about the impression cost and they apologized that they hadn’t told me and then pulled up the estimate that i’d been given. and it turns out that my estimate was done incorrectly! instead of $3434, my total for that day is only going to be $2226! whoo!

i guess this day isn’t turning out so bad after all.

i saw superbad on friday and if you haven’t seen it, you should run out and do it right now! it’s definitely the funniest movie i’ve seen this year… or in the last few years. there’s a lot of that cringe inducing humor that freaks and geeks and arrested development did so well. and it has lots of seth rogen, who i’ve loved since i first saw him on undeclared (i watched freaks and geeks on dvd later).

putin posed shirtless on vacation. i saw it in the paper this morning and laughed out loud.

i’ve been working, working, working the last few days (and nights). the start of the fall semester is always busy. less time for blog updating and emailing makes me sad though.

rei is having an awesome sale right now. i got four new purse/travel bags for $22. you can have your order shipping to an rei store for free, so you don’t even have to add shipping!

why is home depot selling computers? why would anyone buy a computer from home depot? what is this world coming to?

am i the only person who didn’t know that most mammals make their own vitamin c? for some reason thinking about that creeps me out.

i feel that i probably need this desperately. maybe two sets.

i bought some tofu shirataki noodles last week and used them in a stir fry on saturday. they’re very … interesting. they smelled horrible out of the package, but rinsing and boiling them got rid of the stink. they’re very rubbery, kind of like overcooked calamari. i think if i use them again, i’m going to cut them into 3-5 inch pieces so i’m not trying to bite through them quite as much. they’re going to require 1-2 more taste tests before i know if i hate them or not.

my new little camera is supposed to arrive today! i’m so excited!

i’m having a quiet night in tonight since i wasn’t feeling well earlier today (maybe too little sleep earlier this week? ) and decided to check out 10th and Wolf. i rented it earlier this week because it was filmed in pittsburgh and my aunt eileen and uncle don worked on it. i haven’t watched the movie yet because it’s scratched up and it’s annoying me but i’m watching the ‘behind the scenes’ featurette and they’re filming at hartwood acres and i already saw eileen and i think i saw don’s back!

season 3 of it’s always sunny in philadelphia starts on september 13th on fx. there’s an epsiode up on myspace now – go watch it!

audrey, john, paige, jason and i went to see the band of heathens on wednesday night at momo’s. it was good to catch up with seth and the band of heathens are great. we also got to check out part of matt the electrician’s and will sexton’s sets. unfortunately i did not listen to jason when he suggested that i might want to go home at about midnight and we ended up going to star bar and i didn’t get home until about 2:45am. sigh. 5 hours of sleep does not make a great thursday.

has anyone ever heard of/had wine from the mandola winery? i never have but saw an article that they’re opening an italian restaurant out there. yum. that will be a fun field trip this fall!

robin sent angela links to the flight of the conchords sxsw 2006 documentary. the video quality is a bit grainy but it’s worth watching. especially if you live in austin turns out they were staying at the omni that’s across I35 from me. bret called it ‘the industrial/carpark section of austin’. yeah.

the rock and i went to dirty dog on my lunch hour. i gave him a bath and one of the employees clipped his nails (i’m still too scared i’m going to cut him). ah, a clean smelling, soft dog gets so many extra pets.

i’ve thought for the last two days that i had some kind of bug in my kitchen a/c vent because i kept hearing chirping. this afternoon i heard the chirp, looked up, and saw a little green grasshopper in the vent. (it’s probably the same one that tried to keep me up all night by getting caught between the bedroom window and the screen. nothing like trying to figure out how to pop a screen out without breaking it at 3am.) i got him out but now he’s taken up residence in the bay window area. i’m sure he’ll be back in the vent the minute i leave the house. sigh.

carson and kelly sent a link to some new photos and one is from my visit. i’ve suspected for a while that my current, older model camera was conspiring to make me look wider than i really am, and now i have proof. both of the following pictures were taken from the same place but one is with mine and one is with kelly’s. the first picture is like, ‘oh, cute!’ and the one taken with my camera is like, ‘when did i gain that much weight???’. i’ve just ordered myself a new camera. i refuse to take any more pictures of myself with that old fat making one. hmph.

i can’t believe that the european airline association is actually advising people not to check bags. maybe it’s time to invest in some of the tags they mention in the article.

i saw this beer nightlight at target today. it works like the christmas bubble lights so the sparkles rotate around while it’s on. i kind of wanted to buy it, but couldn’t decide what to do with it.

austin is finally getting over 100 and my a/c is feeling it. i went to costco around 3 to get some fans to try to help it out, but it still didn’t get below 83 until after 9 last night. sigh. i called melissa to see if she wanted to hang out in her pool for a while and we stood around talking in the water from about 5pm until almost 6:30. we were getting pruny fingers but it was so much nicer in the water.

in other news, i broke down and ordered a keurig coffee maker yesterday. i can’t resist those little k-cups! they’re adorable. click on ‘view demo’ to see how the system works. and that german chocolate cake coffee is so tasty. mmmm.

jenn posted some pics from josh’s hair photo shoot. here i am looking as mean as i ever have in my life. i could totally kick your ass (whoever you are!).
