sxsw was almost two weeks ago and i still haven’t gotten around to posting who i saw. my camera cord seems to have been buried in some moving box somewhere so i have a memory card full of pictures (starting with superbowl sunday!) and no way of getting them onto the computer. soon….

so thursday angela and i left work a little early and went to a house concert east of UT for the last few hours of the afternoon. we really wanted to see rocky votolato and we did and he was great. and then we stayed for the long winters. i have a few of their cds and liked them better in person. another band was just starting as we left a little after 5 so that i could go home to let calla out. i had planned to go back out after that but having 3 beers in the afternoon sun (it was 80something) will make you sleepy! we’re definitely planning to go back to this thursday party next year. the bands were playing in the front yard and people were set up with blankets and chairs across the street, kids and dogs were running around, there was beer… it was great!

friday i took off work and met shanna, dana, angela and robin at the jane party at the beauty bar. we saw tiny steps (eh), what made milwaukee famous (good!), film school (ok), of montreal (interesting), and heard a little mates of state (ok). unfortunately we had to leave before nada surf because my car was only legally parked until 6pm. we also met the guys of tally hall. i had to go talk to a group of guys that were wearing black slacks, white dress shirts, and each had a different colored solid tie. they were adorable! and it turns out, a really good band!

after all of that excitement, we were pretty much done in. dana, rachael, chris and i had dinner at opal divine’s south and then we all went home to sleep. and then i did nothing more related to sxsw because i was being a lame new homeowner. there’s always next year

mmm… easter candy is my downfall.

why do pastel m&ms taste better than primary colored m&ms?

why did cadbury have to start making mini creme eggs? i love chocolate and sugar but eating a whole creme egg was hard even for me. and you can’t save half… but now i found the little ones. two bites of mouth-puckering sweetness. perfect!

but my real easter weakness is cadbury mini eggs. i could eat a whole package at once. the crispy sugar shell! the milky sweet chocolate inside!

gotta go- i left a package of mini eggs in the breakroom so i wouldn’t eat them all but i need just one more. well, at least one more.

today jenn and i passed each other as we were driving to work. i’d already gone 4 houses and she was just starting past one. we waved and then she called me. we chatted and then as i was about to get onto 35, she said she had to go because she was at work.

• i was at work, computer on, with coffee from the breakroom, at 8:01am!
• i have been in bed before midnight every day since march 5th.
• i spent most of my weekend laying sod.
• i’ve been discussing the merits of different shrubs/hedges with people.

reasons it may all be okay -

• i think i’m going to trophy’s tonight for some pre-sxsw music.
• i’m taking off work on friday for the jane sxsw party and free beer!

thank god sxsw will bring back at least some of my irresponsible, immature ways. yay!

question 1 is why i even look at the daily texan. reading the grammatically incorrect, pointless “news” stories drives me crazy. but since i did open it today, question 2 is ….

WHY THE HELL is the texan reviewing porn from 1966?

is just doesn’t make any sense. though neither does this line in the article-

This movie is confusing and irredeemably awful, but fans of vintage skin flicks will surely find it a treat.

i inherited the cutest silverware set from my paternal grandparents when i moved to austin. i loved it because it has two little stars on the handles and it’s retro look matched up well with my fiestaware.

there was a mention in the statesman today that oneida and betty crocker brought it back because it had been so popular! ooh! now i can count up my forks and spoons and shrimp forks and see if i need any more!

about once a week that weird austin thing happens where you realize that someone you dated has dated your friend, or one of your friends is best friends with someone else you know… that everyone in austin knows everyone and they’ll all show up someplace that you are eventually.

so apparently it also extends to children. there was a paddleboat going by lucy’s on sunday and we were watching it because it was full of kids that were running all over the place. and then jenn took a few pictures of it. and it just so happens that my cousin calvin was on that boat for a birthday party. and he’s in the only close-up shot she took. weird.
